In the Marvel Comics on which the MCU is based, Venom was created as a result of Spider-Man's use of the alien symbiote costume. In the comics, Spider-Man discovers a strange alien symbiote while on an adventure in space. He brings the symbiote back to Earth, where it begins to bond with him, enhancing his powers and abilities. However, over time, Spider-Man begins to realize that the symbiote is actually a malevolent creature that wants to take over his body and mind. He manages to break free of its control and removes the symbiote costume, which eventually bonds with a new host and becomes the villain known as Venom.
